Scope

Iqra Islamica is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal devoted to the study of Islamic and social sciences. It publishes research that contributes to understanding Islam and Muslim societies through classical and contemporary perspectives.

The journal welcomes submissions on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to Qur’anic studies, Hadith, Seerah, Fiqh and Islamic jurisprudence, Sufism, theology, philosophy, Islamic thought, Muslim history, and issues concerning Muslim communities around the world.

The aim is to promote critical and scholarly engagement with both traditional and modern intellectual challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah, encouraging dialogue between Islamic scholarship and contemporary global contexts.

Articles may be submitted in Urdu, English, or Arabic. Contributors are advised to review the journal’s policies regarding scope, referencing style, and ethical standards before submission.

Aims and Objectives

The objectives of Iqra Islamica include:

  • Encouraging advanced and original research on emerging and classical issues in Islamic studies and related social sciences.

  • Promoting scholarly discussion on social, scientific, ethical, and intellectual matters from an Islamic perspective.

  • Providing an academic platform for researchers to publish high-quality papers in religious and social studies.

  • Publishing critical reviews of recent books and academic works related to Islamic and social sciences.

  • Ensuring a transparent and rigorous double-blind peer review process conducted by subject experts to maintain high academic standards.

  • Fostering diversity, tolerance, and academic dialogue among scholars globally without discrimination based on ethnicity, nationality, or belief.

Editorial and Review Process

Iqra Islamica follows a double-blind peer review policy to ensure impartial evaluation and academic integrity. The editorial workflow is as follows:

  1. Acknowledgment: Submitted manuscripts are acknowledged within 24 hours of receipt.

  2. Initial Screening: The editorial team screens the manuscript for scope, formatting, and plagiarism compliance.

  3. Peer Review: Eligible manuscripts are sent to at least two anonymous reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. The review process is typically completed within two to three weeks.

  4. Review Reports: Review feedback is shared with the author(s) along with editorial comments and conditions for acceptance.

  5. Revision & Resubmission: Authors are required to revise their manuscripts as per reviewers’ suggestions within a given timeframe.

  6. Final Decision: Revised manuscripts are reassessed by the editorial board (and reviewers if necessary) before final acceptance.

  7. Proofreading: Accepted papers are sent to authors for final proofreading before publication.

  8. Online & Print Publication: The article is first published online, followed by the print edition.

  9. Dispatch of Hard Copy: Authors receive a complimentary printed copy within one month of publication.

Open Access Policy

All articles published in Iqra Islamica are made freely available to the public immediately upon publication. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, or link to the full texts of articles without prior permission from the publisher or author.

The journal follows the principles of Creative Commons licensing, allowing responsible use and distribution of scholarly work with proper attribution to the author(s).

A full-text version of each article is preserved in the journal’s online repository to ensure long-term access, interoperability, and archival preservation.

Iqra Islamica recognizes that open access is a property of individual works, supporting the global movement toward unrestricted academic knowledge sharing.

Available licenses include:

  • Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY)

  • Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial (CC BY-NC)

Publication Fee and Submission Process

Iqra Islamica is an independent, open-access journal not supported by external funding agencies or universities. To cover the operational and publishing expenses (peer review, editing, indexing, online hosting, and archiving), the following charges apply after acceptance:

  • Article Processing Fee: PKR 15,000 (non-refundable)

  • Publication Fee: PKR 20,000 (applicable after successful peer review and acceptance)

All manuscripts are submitted online through the OJS submission system. Authors are encouraged to review the submission guidelines carefully before uploading their articles.

Plagiarism Policy

Iqra Islamica strictly follows the plagiarism policy of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
All submitted manuscripts are checked for originality using approved plagiarism detection software. Any paper found violating HEC’s policy will be rejected or withdrawn.
